Physiotherapy and Treatments
What is it all about ?
From the tip of your head to your fingers and toes, injury can occur anywhere on your body and understanding a condition or injury, by whatever cause, is the first step to understanding better health. Causes of musculoskeletal pain are extremely varied and can be focused on the joint, isolated to specific soft tissues or a combination of both. They include damage with the wear and tear of daily activities, osteoarthritis, trauma such as a fall, sprain, road traffic accident, sports injury or pain which arises from postural strain, low back pain, repetitive movements and/or overuse e.g. tennis elbow and prolonged immobilisation.

What is Physiotherapy :
The following is a direct quote from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Website which can be accessed on www.csp.org.uk . The reader is directed to the 'Professional & Union' and also the 'Your Health' tab on the information bar as it gives extensive information on physiotherapy with various links to current issues.
"Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability and as a healthcare profession, physiotherapy's science foundation covers a broad and varied range of work which involves working with people to promote their own health and well being."

Treatments
Clare understands the desire to get back to your chosen activity as quickly as possible. The symptoms of injuries often have an underlying cause which forms an important part of diagnosis. Accurate assessment using the latest technology is essential to be able to structure treatment and the strength and conditioning exercises required. This is combined with clinical knowledge about when it is safe to return to specific sports training. This is conducted with full consultation about your future goals. The use of neuromuscular stimulation enables full strength to be gained even when you are in a non weight bearing / unable to do sport / activities situation such as that after surgery and serious injury. Neuromuscular stimulation enables high levels of muscle activation with no joint impact in order to strengthen and maintain fitness, it is also very useful with such conditions as osteoarthritis/ severe back pain / nerve injuries where other exercise is too painful or too difficult. |
